Annual Appeal 2024
Art is a powerful tool for education, fostering critical thinking, creativity, and emotional expression. Integrating professional artists into our school environment will provide students with unparalleled opportunities to learn and grow.
Melbourne High School relies on the generosity of our community to provide exceptional educational experiences. That is why we are calling on our community to make this program a reality. The artist-in-residence program will feature writers and visual artists, ensuring our students’ experience rich and diverse artistic exposure.
The first artist we plan to engage is Deborah Halpern, one of Australia’s most celebrated sculptors and mosaic artists. Known for her iconic works such as “Angel” and “Ophelia,” Halpern’s art is characterized by its bold colors and whimsical forms. Her residency at Melbourne High School will include workshops, lectures, and collaborative projects with students, making art an accessible and integral part of their daily lives.
